Rooted Candle

Logo & Package Redesign

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop

Project Purpose: Product Redesign

Year Completed: 2021

As a product with such a hopeful impact, it’s important to stand out from others, that’s why making a product that stands out is so important to Rooted Candle.

To stand out it takes authenticity and learning the patterns of things such as product placement and learning what your average consumer is actually looking for and wanting to buy.

For redesigning a product the goal is always to elevate and improve the product. These changes and design updates successfully accomplish that goal.

Type Study

The type study does many things, it makes the product stand out and allows the consumer to recognize the product.

For this rebrand, the goal was to fix/improve the already fun unique design and product while making it more pleasing to the consumer.

Using Segeo Print makes the font feel free-flowing, and simplistic while giving the visual design a more plant and natural look.

Current Package Design

The Current package design is a little bland, when looking at the item in a store, the package doesn’t stand off the shelf, and there currently isn’t anything that will make this product pop and stand out among all other products and packages alike.

Current Color Palette

The Current color palette is a little mute, what this means is that when looking at the product packaging there isn’t much that makes it stand out or makes it pop to the average consumer on the shelve.

Updated Package Design

The new and improved package design incorporates a more earthy summery color palette, the package design improves on the original design specifically on the design work. The new updated package pops on the shelf and allows the package to catch the consumer’s eye.

Updated Color Palette

Updating this color palette from a more pastel look to a more summery floral look changes the look by making the colors stand out and pop on the packaging. Using these colors on a package in a plant section or even a candle section of a store forces the consumer to see the package and item that stands out among the rest.

Logo Design

The final logo for this product incorporates a look-through effect into what the inside of the candle packaging is, this effect allows the consumer to see the product before it even opened without making the entire package see-through.
